Max Benson


Max Benson is a professional bassist based in Los Angeles. Born in New York City and raised in Chicago, his career has taken him all over the world with a wide variety of different artists and bands.

Among his earliest bass influences are James Jamerson, John Paul Jones, Paul McCartney, Pino Palladino, Tony Levin, and Flea. He picked up the bass at age 13 and played in bands throughout high school. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts.

Moving to LA in 2012, Max has had a steady and diverse career in the commercial music world, playing countless tours, theaters/amphitheaters, concert halls, festivals, clubs, recording sessions, weddings, and corporate events. Notable experiences include performing at Red Rocks Amphitheater with Del Water Gap, performing in the house band of America’s Got Talent, recording bass tracks for legendary producer/songwriter Linda Perry, and playing in the house band at Club REME for 6 months, a nightclub catering to wealthy expats in Xiamen, China.

Since 2016 Max has been in the touring band of Swedish pop singer, LÉON. He has completed 5 North American tours, 3 European tours, 1 Asia/Australia tour, and performed at celebrated festivals Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Bumbershoot, Osheaga (CA), Lowlands (NL), Sziget (HU), and Way Out West (SE).

Max is the co-founder of GB Entertainment, an LA-based agency that provides classy and eclectic jazz-inspired bands for high end events and venues across Southern California. He has curated entertainment for clients such as Netflix, Disney, NBC/Universal, American Express, Lexus, and The Beverly Center.
